oJobPub 1.0 draft is open for feedback
The first draft of the oJobPub specification is public. Here is what it defines, and how you can help shape version 1.0.

The first public draft of the oJobPub specification, version 1.0.0-draft.1, is available in the documentation. It describes one small JSON document that lists an employer’s job openings, published on the employer’s own website.
What the draft defines
- One well-known location. The file lives at
https://<your-domain>/.well-known/ojobpub.json. Redirects are allowed, so the file itself can be hosted anywhere. - HTTPS and plain JSON. The document is served over HTTPS as
application/json. - A small set of required fields. Every feed has a version, a last-updated timestamp, the employer and a list of jobs. Every job has a title, language, publication date, job type, locations and a link to the job on your website.
- Optional details that matter to job seekers, such as workload, salary range, work type, experience level and an application deadline.
The JSON Schema is licensed CC0, so anyone can use it, in any project.
Why a draft
A format for job data only works if it fits the people who publish and read it. Before we call it 1.0, we want to hear from employers, job boards, search engines and developers: what is missing, what is unclear, what is more than you need?
How to give feedback
Open an issue on GitHub, or reach us on Mastodon. The best feedback comes from trying it: write an ojobpub.json for your own openings, and tell us where it did not fit.
